Here at Nipper Skipper we think it might be nice to share some thoughts, ideas and tips with you all (as has been said before – ‘we like nice things’!), and so we’re beginning our blog!
We’ve always talked about Nipper Skipper as combining fashion and function. We want little ones to feel and look great, whilst also being safe and comfortable whenever they are on the water….and also when alongside. So this blog will be a mix of sharing new looks, the latest gear, some sailing news plus shared advice that we hope you’ll find useful.
So if you haven’t already had a look around our lovely website www.nipperskipper.co.uk – please do come on board. We are always open to suggestions for stock or happy to help you find specific items or clothing. Plus if you are in a club or group please do get in touch as we can support you with larger orders.
And just to clear things up – it’s not this Blogg…
He’s Henry Blogg, he was Cromer’s Life Boat Coxswain and is a local hero in Norfolk! Henry served on the Cromer lifeboat for 53 years. He joined the crew in 1894 at the age of 18. During his time on the rescue boat it launched 387 times and saved 873 lives. He was awarded seven RNLI medals for gallantry; three gold and four silver – along with the George Cross and the British Empire Medal, making him the most decorated lifeboat ever. He retired in 1947 aged 71, 11 years after the normal retirement age. In fact there’s a current appeal being supported by Anglia Afloat that is trying to preserve old Henry’s personal fishing boat, The QJ and J. He even has his own Henry Blogg Museum – perfect for family visits in Cromer ( it’s just off the beach). He would however be totally bemused by his techie name sake nowadays!
Henry Blogg Museum at Cromer, Norfolk. Great for Nipper Skipper family days out.
Basically – Henry has nothing to do with blogging as such – but he does tie in with our focus on safety here at Nipper Skipper! And you’ll be pleased to know that our waterproofs have come a long way since Henry’s outfitters!
